  • 1 tablespoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (homemade or I love 365 by Whole Food’s Kansas City Love BBQ Sauce)

Method

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk cane sugar and molasses until molasses is fully absorbed and mixture is free of clumps. Add all other spices and whisk until fully incorporated. Set aside.

On a large sheet pan, rub ribs with oil on both sides. Generously season ribs with spice rub on both sides. Creating a pocket for the ribs wrap and seal with a top and bottom layer of aluminum foil.

Transfer to oven and bake for approximately 3 hours.

Remove ribs from oven and increase the heat to 350 degrees F. Meanwhile, brush with barbecue sauce and return to oven. Bake for an additional 10 - 20 minutes.
